TALE OF A DOUBLE SHADOW
By: Tsubine Zarkonheinz
This light novel is dedicated to my friends at Bleach: Untold Stories. And especially to one of my dearest friends, wherever they might be...
NOTE: THIS LIGHT NOVEL IS A WORK OF MY OWN, MADE BY ME AS A WORK OF FANFICTION. I AM NOT WRITING THIS AS AN ACTUAL WORK TO BE PUBLISHED.
CONTEXT
Characters:
HOLY EMPIRE OF BRITANNIA
Tsubine ja Britannia “Black Dragon”: The fourth prince of Britannia, is the commander of Pandora. He pilots a one-of-a kind Knightmare frame, known as “Merlin”, which is known to have “magical” weaponry. That “Magical Weaponry” is the SBS, or Sakuradite BroadSword. It has a physical blade, coated by Sakuradite. It was also the first Knightmare not to require a Float system. It has a pair of wings that ave small thrusters inside of the spaces between them. And for long-range combat, there is a hadron cannon built into its chest. It is solid black, except for its exhaust and the hilt of the SBS, which they are silver in color. Tsubine ja Britannia’s goal right now is to destroy the Black Knights, and furthermore, Zero for the death of his brother, Clovis...
Kenji “Hurricane” Hurikane: This Honorary Britannian is an elite pilot for Pandora. Skilled with flashy moves and quick reflexes, this lavender-haired pilot uses his Gloucester/H “Hurrikan” to speed by the Black Knights and attack them with its MVS/B or its ASSAULT RIFLE. It’s color is a more pastel purple than Cornellia’s.
Graham “Firestorm” Crossroad: A 100% Britannian pilot like no other. This blonde-headed pilot is used to being the boss, but when he joins Pandora, he’s not the boss. He pilots a modified Gloucester as well, the Gloucester/A “Angriff”. Armed with two Hadron cannons, mounted on the shoulders, and a pair of heavy cannons, mounted on the waist, plus two heavy ASSAULT RIFLES, this monster can do as much damage as the Mordred. It’s color reflects the pilot, silver, black, and gold.
Leon ”Quickdraw” Crossroad: The youngest of the Crossroad brothers, Leon can be cool on the battlefield, but has an ego the size of Area 11. Leon may not be used to being in charge, but he likes it. He may not be the fastest, or the strongest, but if you need a wall of Knightmares mowed down, call him. His Gloucester/SG “Schnell Gewehr” is not only his custom unit, but is also a perfect Support Knightmare. The SG has two types of armaments: Gatling, and Shotgun. The Gatling type has two handheld gatling guns and two ejectable shoulder-mounted dual-barrel gatling guns. The Shotgun type is a fusion of the Gatling type and the Hurrikan. The Shotgun type is equipped with a scaled-down version of the Hurrikan’s booster pack and mounted the Gatling’s handheld gatling guns on the shoulders. Its handheld armaments are two automatic shotguns. He chose this color scheme of black and navy blue to entice fear into the hearts of his enemies.
Craigafer “Afar” Crossroad: The middle child in the Crossroad family, he normally wears a pair of glasses to look professional. He may look weak, but he’s actually a skilled pilot. This is proven by the custom Gloucester he uses. He is able to take out enemies from afar, earning him the nickname “afar” using the Gloucester/S “Anglick”. It’s high-powered sniper rifle can easily pierce through normal knightmares. It’s color scheme matches its style, not the pilot, for it is dark-green and black.
Kenshin “Wolf” Yujahn: The Knight of Five may be a little older than most of the other Knights, but he’s an exceptional pilot. His short, messy brown hair doesn’t reflect him, but it does show that he is playful, not serious all the time. His piloting skills aren’t that good alone as they are compared to when he’s piloting with his wife, Kiteraena. The two are probably the most proficient Knightmare pilot couple out there. His custom Knightmare, the Caradoc, is not a support type, but a light assault type. It has two rapier-shaped MVS and a chain-fed ASSAULT RIFLE. It’s color scheme is odd, but not very fearful. Who is scared of a light blue with white highlights?
Kiteraena ”Kitty” Yujahn: The Knight of Eight may look beautiful, but she is a Femme Fatale. Once a military assassin, Kiteraena has killed many men outside of a Knightmare. Her dark skin compliments her eyes, along with her waist length white hair. She may have killed many men outside of a Knightmare, but she’s killed more in one. Her custom Knightmare, the Bedivere, is painted red with white highlights matches her husband’s Caradoc.
Jeremiah Gottwald: Orange may not be his favorite color, but it’s his call sign. Despite being “Killed” by the Gawain, he is still in functionality with the Britannians. He is currently Tsubine’s chief advisor.
ORDER OF THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Midorikawa “The Sword” Iko & Misaiko Iko: While “The Sword” may be sharp, I wouldn’t use her as a defense. She joined the Black Knights on her own behalf, tired of the increase in prices for Elevens. She is an expert tactical forecaster, but not on par with Zero or Schneizel. Misaiko isn’t a tactical forecaster, but rather Rakshata Chawla’s apprentice.
Ammy “Pyro” Lung: This young girl witnessed the brutality of Britannia firsthand. Her mother and father were killed in front of her because the wouldn’t move out of the way. She now is fighting to destroy Britannia and kill those men who killed her parents.
Her custom Red Akatsuki is equipped with a scaled-down Radiant Wave Surge and a flamethrower. She will burn or melt anything that is in her way.
Sergei “The Bear” Vlassinovich: The Bear got his nickname from his strategies in total annihilation. His scar across his right eye is a result from a battle with Britannian forces. His knightmare is a regular silver Akatsuki armed with a pair of anti-Knightmare rocket launchers.
Tsuna “The Lightning Count” Kimatsu: While Tsuna may have just graduated high school, he is on college level thinking. He has medium-length light brown hair and a
fond for reading. His knightmare is an Akatsuki armed with EMP weapons, disabling Knightmares and doing damage to their computer systems. It is colored white with it having some black on it.
Prologue:
Opening Pandora’s Box
The bullets ricocheted off of the Gloucesters. The steel blue and white KFs were the trademark of Kenji’s Forces, along with the broadsword with angelic wings told the resistance there they meant business. An old model Glasgow was in the possession of these dissidents. This was the result of the Knight Police losing a unit in a skirmish with these terrorists. The Gloucesters surrounded the Glasgow and fired their SLASH-HARKENS at the old model KF. Under the lead of a lavender-colored Gloucester, the other four KFs pulled away, ripping the Glasgow apart. The pilot was unable to eject as the explosion consumed the dismantled KF. The lavender Gloucester was piloted by Kenji Hurikane, the “Wild Wind of Britannia”. Kenji was an honorary Britannian, but he had Britannian. He adopted the last name Hurikane to fit his combat style. His fast moves and agility were matched in his Gloucester/HURRIKAN. The Hurrikan is equipped with faster LANDSPINNERS and a thruster pack on each side of the cockpit. Its weaponry also now includes a MVS and a heavy rapid-fire submachine gun. It is meant to be the fastest modified Gloucester out there.
“Sir, we have no more Knightmares in the area. I think we should fire a chaos mine into the caves.” Freyr von Auter, a new pilot, was speaking to Kenji. He wasn’t a rookie so to speak, but an experienced soldier. However, he was used to taking out armies and establishing Areas, not massacring terrorists.
“Do as you want....I’m going to pursue that ship....” Kenji responded, in his cold, yet murderously warm tone. He noticed a small cruiser sailing out of the side of the mountain, and he knew the big dogs were in there.
The Hurrikan’s LANDSPINNERS smashed into the ground rolling, pushing the lavender Knightmare forward. Kenji activated the thrusters and his speed increased dramatically. He made some final adjustments and then....fwooom! The Knightmare hit a small on ramp that had collapsed and soared into the air. He folded the LANDSPINNERS back up and landed on the bow of the ship. The indents that the feet of the Hurrikan made almost broke the deck. Before he could fire his HURRIKAN RIFLE, a Knightmare grabbed the Hurrikan’s left leg and toppled it. The Knightmare was an....Akatsuki? The Black Knights? This unit had something different about it...a Gloucester custom’s head?! It belonged to Kira hu Britannia, the sixth prince....Damn. This was to be a fight.
The Hurrikan stood back up and dropped the rifle. Kenji moved the right arm and grabbed the MVS from the left side scabbard. In the other cockpit a sinister smile crawled upon the lips of the pilot, Hiro Takemaki. Hiro was a half-11 half-Britannian young man. He hated the Britannians for they killed his father because he had married an eleven. Hiro brought out a SHOT LANCER from a container on deck. Knightmare-on-Knightmare combat, something the Gloucesters were made for....and so were the Akatsukis. The Hurrikan ran towards the Akatsuki looking as if it was to slice down the Knightmare piloted by Hiro.
“Damn...”Hiro said as he jolted the Knightmare to the left, almost knocking it into the water. The Akatsuki was struggling to keep up with the Hurrikan. The Akatsuki rumbled a bit, for it wasn’t used to fighting this hard.
“Perfect....DIE ELEVEN SCUM!” Kenji screamed as he spun his Hurrikan around and fired its SLASH-HARKENS, a wire guided anchor that could be a weapon if used in the right way. The first SLASH-HARKEN missed, but the second latched onto the Akatsuki’s chest armor. Kenji laughed maniacally as the Akatsuki fell over and was dragged towards him.
“DAMN IT! Eject won’t work.....of course...” Hiro looked to his side and saw the explosives container on the deck. He was going to use his ASSAULT RIFLE to make the container explode. He radioed the bridge, “Get out, take the helicopter and head for the submarine. I’m going to destroy the ship. Try to get the new recruits out of here too...”
“Understood, we’ll leave you the speed boat.” The bridge commander, Midorikawa Iko, a middle-aged woman who was used to the old Japanese style of command, responded to the only experienced Knightmare pilot on board. For being middle-aged, she looked in her mid-twenties. She was actually only 34, which in her books was the start of middle-age. She scrambled around, getting important papers and such before fleeing to the awaiting helicopter. There, aboard the helicopter, two near adults sat across from her. She was startled on how young they were, and wanted to know why they had joined. She looked at the male of the two. He was around 18, and had long, light brown hair. His eyes showed he had been through pain, true despair. He was staring at the floor, his face as cold as the water below them. She then looked at the female. She was around 19, and Midorikawa knew that look. Rage. That is what this girl was feeling, not being able to kill Britannian scum...Her eyes had a little bit of red in them, a symbol that she had build up anger against the Britannians. The female glanced over at Midorikawa, looking through her luscious short black hair. Midorikawa looked away as the female turned back to looking out of the window.
“Heh, Britannian...you die....now..” Hiro said in a bit of pain as he shot the explosives container with his ASSAULT RIFLE. The bullets hit the explosives, starting a chain reaction. Once that single container exploded, so did another, and another, and more did as well. The Explosions eventually made it to the fuel storage near the engine room.
“You won’t die by my blade this time....” Kenji told Hiro, as he boosted back to shore. Kenji watched as the ship’s fuel ignited and thus exploded into a ball of fire. He sheathed his MVS/B and regrouped with the rest of his forces. Freyr and his team had thrown a chaos mine into the caverns. This, of course, killed the terrorists inside. As the unmodified Gloucesters returned to their leader, explosives detonated inside of the mountain, making the caverns and the harbor collapse on themselves, ensuring no one survived. Kenji looked around as he saw all of his forces had returned. As he was about to say something, a dark shadow engulfed the area. Kenji and his team looked into the skies as he saw a Logres-class Floating Battleship being escorted by four Caerleon Class Floating Battleships. “What? Why would...” He saw a black dragon painted on the bottom of the bottom set of wings. It meant one thing. The Black dragon had arrived. Tsubine ja Britannia. Tsubine gained this nickname because of his custom black and maroon Gloucester, which was equipped with a flamethrower and a MVW, or Maser-Vibration Whip. He would use both in conjunction with one another. He would superheat the whip with the flamethrower and it would slice through a Knightmare like a hot knife through butter. But why was a royal family member here? Was he to be the new viceroy? After Viceroy Calarus was killed by Zero, Emperor Charles had not appointed a new viceroy for Area 11.
Aboard Kenji’s Hurrikan, a message appeared on the screen. It was followed by a video link from the Logres. “Sir, you’re connected.” A bridge officer said off screen, his face shadowed by his hat.
“Thank you, Corporal.” A voice said. It wasn’t deep, nor high. It sounded like one of the spoiled young adults from the television. “Commander Hurikane, I presume.”
“Yes, your highness, I am Kenji Hurikane.” Kenji said as he was in shock a bit. “How did a Prince as young as he is....get a feared reputation?!”
“Good, I am Tsubine ja Britannia, fourth prince of the Holy Empire of Britannia and the sixth-in-line to succeed the throne. I will not be the new viceroy, for the new one has been chosen and is on her way. I am here as acting commander of a new Anti-Terrorist task force, code named Pandora. I am contacting you for one reason.” He paused. He looked into the camera. Tsubine’s short brown hair contradicted with his cold, azure eyes. “Will you join?”
Many thoughts came through his head. If he joined, he would be granted more power. If he didn’t, he could continue on his path to becoming a general. He had to decide. It came to this...”Count me in, your highness...”
The young prince smiled, he had a member of Pandora standing below him. He cut the video feed off and slowly walked towards his throne-like chair in the bridge. He started to laugh. My plans to obliterate my brother are going perfectly...Zero...no, Lelouch, prepare...to die. The Logres touched down at the Tokyo Settlement runway. Tsubine stood up and walked down the halls. His smile was a true one, but his intentions are not what they seem....
Aboard the Black Knight’s submarine, computers were buzzing, ringing and beeping. The bridge broke the water’s surface, followed by the deck. A single container opened, revealing an empty cargo bay. The helicopter carrying Tsuna, Ammy, Midorikawa, and some of the crew arrived above the submarine. The pilot carefully landed the helicopter into the open bay. After the helicopter landed, the overhead doors closed and the doors on the side of the helicopter opened. One of the crew from the helicopter stepped into the bay. He had a briefcase, apparently made out of titanium.
“Ah, good, it survived!” A voice exclaimed. A dark-skinned blonde woman holding a tobacco pipe. Her name was Rakshata Chawla, the Black Knights’ head of Research and Development. She was standing behind some railing above them, looking down. “Bring it up, please.” She said as she stepped away from the railing.
“Take this up to her, if you don’t mind.” The officer said to Tsuna.
“S-sure. I don’t mind.” Tsuna said, as he grabbed the briefcase. It was heavy, very heavy as a matter of fact. What the hell was in it? He started to walk towards the staircase when he saw a red-haired girl walking down the staircase as well. The pilot of the Guren mark 2, Kallen Kouzuki. She was their best pilot, and a mighty sexy one at that. She glanced at Tsuna and walked down the next flight. He continued to walk up the few flights of stairs to get to where Rakshata was. “Um, here you go...I gotta get to the Knightmares...” He told her as he walked off.
The bells started to ring at Ashford Academy. Ashford was an all-Britannian private school, headed by the Ashford Foundation. The students here were very noticeable about new students. Inside the DJ room, the student council president, Milly Ashford, announced something.
“Ok, everyone! We have a new student! Not only is he a handsome fellow, but he’s got connections! I’m not gonna tell you guys his name, but you will be surprised!” Her voice was cheerful, but she loved making the girls chase after one particular person, Lelouch Lamperouge. She wanted to know what he was hiding.
In the history classroom, while the other students were wondering who the new student was, one particular young man was sitting there, his arms on the table with his hands intertwined in front of his mouth. His name was Lelouch Lamperouge, but that wasn’t his real name. His actual name was Lelouch vi Britannia, the Eleventh prince. But he goes by a different name when associating with his “friends”...one that means so much to so many citizens...Zero. He was the Head of the Black Knights, and a master strategist at that. He sat there, slightly wondering why this guy was so important to have an annou- He looked as there stood a figure, in the standard Ashford uniform, standing in the front of the classroom. “No...It couldn’t be....” He was truly shocked. ‘Why is he here?! This puts me at serious risk...’
“Hello, I am Tsubine ja Britannia, the Fourth Prince. It is an honor to meet all of you...” Tsubine introduced himself, looking dashing. He focused his eyes on Lelouch. ‘Perfect....I’ve found you...Lelouch vi Britannia....my brother..”
