Background: Born in 1583, Gendo was ready and born to fight. At three he was nearly killing teenagers. His father died two years later, just before he could kill the leader of a ruthless gang of thugs, but Gendo picked up the spear and thrust it through the leader's heart. 13 years later, Gendo was enlisted into the Western Japanese army, and stayed by his general, Mitsunari Ishida, till the end. He was honored as one of the most intelligent soldiers of his time, earning himself the nickname, "the Wolf of the West". Gendo was the last soldier to die before the execution of Ishida.
He arrived in 21st Rukongai District, an upper-middle-class area. He immediately joined the Soul Reaper Academy. He gratuated with an above-average ranking and was sent to the ninth division. However, his powers truly appeared after he learned his Shikai and mastered it on the same day. He was transferred to the Tenth division for a while. During the Ender Attack, Gendo's location is unknown, as he was supposedly on a secret mission for the Second Division captain, at the time. He now has his Bankai and is one of the most powerful fire zanpakutou-users.
Personality: Gendo is typically a smart-ass, even to those higher in authority than him. He tends not to show respect for them, either. Often it makes it seem like he has no respect for figures higher in power than him, which is not always true.He is also a very cocky person, never thinking he can be defeated, even by some of the most powerful beings. In a battle, he will never surrender, unless he knows that victory is impossible. In battle, he retains his smart ass, cocky attitude, unless pushed to his very limits, which is when you see the serious side of him. In this mood, he is ruthless and cold, and will do whatever is necessary to achieve victory. Off of the battlefield, he is normally considered stalkerish, as he is quiet and quite creepy at times (Soi Fong said he'd make great Halloween decor).
Shinigami Powers:

Can create ice waves, like that of Hyorinmaru, but are more controlled and more powerful.
Zetsumei Ichiban "Tsume": Gendo's sword dissipates and the individual crystals become two hands that mirror what Gendo's own hands are doing.
Zetsumei Niban "Sashikorosu": The Individual crystals now are separated and look like knife blades floating in the air. Much like Senbonzakura, Sashikorosu will speed toward a target at high speeds.
Bankai: "Burn the world, Hateshinai Kyuukyoku Gouka" Instead of being encased in ice, Gendo's armor is now encased in plasma. His armor now has a red glow to it, and will melt the ice of Ni Hyoukai. He can create large waves of fire, similar to Ni Hyoukai's ice waves.
Zetsumei Sanban "Ketsugen": Ketsugen is unique from the other Zetsumei's, as it makes more crystals. It will take the form of a demon with large claws. It's speed is extremely fast and it is nearly autonomous, relying only on Gendo to keep it connected. It can also create large blasts of fire.
Zetsumei Ketteiteki "Hateshiganai Yasumidokoro": The second most powerful Zetsumei. It is the exact opposite of Ketsugen, as it uses no crystals, but only the sword's "core". The "Core" is removed and "hatches". Inside is an extremely large "Titan" made of pure fire, lava, and plasma. It is over 6 stories tall and looks almost like a demon made of fire. It can breathe, shoot, and create fire from every part of its body.
Zetsumei Reiten "Umarekawari": The most powerful, deadly, and risky Zetsumei. It bends the laws of space and time, and is similar to Orihime's Shun Shun Rikka. It's name literally means "Rebirth", and can bring someone halfway back to life, by costing Gendo 1/5 of his remaining life. (Thus he can only use it 5 times). It also will cancel Bankai for a full 77 Hours.
