As Raziel's foot reached the ground outside of the entrance gate to the Gotei, the large slab wall began to drift up and away, leaving only an imprint a couple feet wide behind him, seperating him from the locale of the shinigami. He sighed as the wall left, he did not enjoy leaving him home place. He'd rather be in his office working, but sadly that could not be the case, today.
Both of his sub-workers had dissapeared, the ones who usually run errands for him. So, he was left here, out of his element, going to give an eviction notice to a couple of large house owners, so that the space their houses took up could be renevated for more living space. This involved actually hand-delivering said notice, which , by extention, meant physically contacting normal people. This is why his task bothered him so much. His comfort circle involved the shinigami around him, nothing more. He felt no ill will toward the commonfolk, or humans for that matter, but they were just such a handful to deal with.
He entered the eight district. At that moment Raziel began to think about how much he loathed the number eight. It was such a horrible number. People scattered to in from, for the most part going about their business, but when he came near one in particular, said person's eyes would dart up and scurry away. It was impressive, Raziel had heard that they were much, much more skitish around Shinigami, but he eventually settled on the idea that those closer to the Gotei would be more used to dealing with them. Still, Raziel couldn't help but feel about 150 eyes on him all at once as he moved down the common street.
The dealing with the tenants of the houses went a little easier than expected. They were given their monatary ration and nerviously accepted their reassignment to one of the newer, smaller houses, farther away from the Gotei gate. Raziel sighed as he stepped out of the glowing, polished, wood house and into the dusty street once more. If it was one thing he couldn't stand about being out of the Gotei for more than 2 minutes, is that ever place he went felt grimy in comparison. He began to turn back down the road, feeling hurried and in need of a shower, despite having taken one 3 hours ago; when, in the glare of the light attracted his eye to an out of place purple swirl about 12 yards behind him. The face attached to said tuft of hair was hidden by it, but it was enough for Raziel to notice the sword slung on its hip. There was no visible sign of an official's badge on his person, so Raziel immediatly became suspicious. The man did not carry himself as a Shinigami, and the normal populace was not allowed to carry weaponry. This rule was ignored farther down in the districts, where one needed a weapon just to cross the street, but in an adjacent district to the Gotei, the shinigami saw no reason not to enforce such a law. He turned, and was about to shout . " You, stop ! You're under arrest ", for he planned to hand this person over to the local government.
He only sqeaked out a " Yo...", because thats when the sudden rush of reiatsu hit him. In hindsight, it should have been a tell-tale give had Raziel noticed that there was no one on the street besides the two of them for atleast 60 yards.
The power flooded over him... oddly enough, the first reaction he had was that he noticed that it was, in fact Shinigami. The second thing he realised, and you could call this the ' bad news ', was that this man was not a known officer, and Raziel should know, he'd memorized every single one, face and name. So... this person was a Shinigami, but not an officer, but held power that far exceeded Raziel's high officer status.
What the fuck have I gotten myself into, he thought to himself.
