New Subordinate

[Ravana]

As he sat there, Ravana sighed, looking at the paper that had piled up on his desk. Usually, Ravana was very good at doing his paperwork on time, but because of recent events, he had taken a break from it. Sighing again, he picked up the paper on the top and quickly began to fill it out. "Hmm, I really should have taken care of this earlier" he said to himself, pulling down another sheet of paperwork. Part of the increase in his paperwork was because he was getting a new lieutenant for his division, which as always, required paperwork.

[Haku Shinen]

Haku appeared next to Ravana at his desk. He saw that he was quite busy with paperwork and such. Haku raised his hand to ask for a quick spar from his captain, but he was too nervous because, he had just became Ravana's lieutenant. When he finally built up the courage he spoke with a clear but soft voice. "Sir, would you like a quick spar, maybe it would release all of that tension your having from all of that paper work." Haku stood there waiting for a response.

As his Lieutenant spoke, Ravana quickly looked up from his paperwork. "Ah, yes, you're, um, Haku Shinen" he said, standing up to see his new lieutenant. Ravana stood just a bit taller than him, but that wasn't really anything new to him. "So, you want a spar you say? Well, why not; what better way to test your aptitude in battle." Ravana then made his way to the door of his office "Well then, follow me to our training area Haku." With that, Ravana lead the way to the 8th Divisions training area.

Haku fallowed his captain to the training area. His footsteps were quiet as he walked. He was shy because he has never actually met his captain in person, it was only in meetings for the squad and what not that he actually saw the man in person. But yet, he didn't show it. Haku had a serious face, like he was ready for action, and was ready for anything his captain threw at him. "Well then, I think your right on that, it is a great way for you to see how well your lieutenant could use his fighting abilities, in battle." Haku said with a clear voice after clearing his throat.

Ravana smiled a bit as he entered the training arena with Haku "Well now, just remember, never be too hasty to rush into a fight, sometimes a strategic retreat is the best plan." With that, Ravana reached one side of the training arena and turned back to face Haku "Well now, I'll allow you the first move, show me what you've got, Haku." Ravana crouched down a bit, and got into his fighting stance. Ravana's stance focused on a lower center of gravity to start off a battle, allowing him to attack, block, or dodge; whichever one he needed to do. However, Ravana had not yet drawn his Zanpaktou.

Knowing that his lieutenant was most likely way stronger than Haku, he knew he didn't have to copy his Captain and not raw his zanpakuto. Haku drew the zanpakuto from his back. Just as it was unsheathed, frost came from the blade, just as if it was scraped off from coming off the sheathe. Haku put the sword in a fighting position and bent his legs a bit. He thought for a second, and started to run at Ravana, looking like he was about to make a huge blow, although this wasn't what he was doing. "Here I come..." He suddenly flash stepped behind Ravana in mid slice. "Right behind you!"

Ravana, however, was used to sneak attacks and, seemingly in one motion, drew his Zanpaktou to block the attack and turn around. "Hmm, nice opener, but still, predictable." With that, Ravana pushed Haku back with his Zanpaktou. "However, if you wish to rush in, you must do it so that you are unnoticed." Ravana then raised his blade and took one step forward, only to have used shunpo to appear right in front of Haku, slashing quickly across at his lieutenant. Although he was taking the spar seriously, he was holding back a bit, as he was more interested in seeing Haku's skills then just overpowering him.

The block from Ravana caused frost to fly instead of sparks. When he was pushed back he slid across the floor. He had his blade up already from the point that he was pushed so the slash that Ravana did was blocked. Frost flew once again. In Haku's mind said "He is way too strong to just be using normal zanpakuto... Release it... No he will think your too weak, try to keep up, don't seem to be struggling." Haku jumped up and did a quick slash over the captain's head, although he knew it would be blocked, but Haku was making sure that he didn't look like a fool and just sit there. "Thanks for the advice sir... But for right now, i gotta show you how i really think..." Haku said in a strong voice.

Ravana grinned as he blocked Haku's next attack over his head "Hmm, good, good, you seem to be able to think on your feet, that is an invaluable asset in any battle." As he said this, Ravana looked at Haku, and could tell that he was debating weather or not to use his Shikai. "Heh, don't worry, you don't need to release your Shikai just yet, I'm not going to actually hurt you, I just want to see your abilities." With that, Ravana once again used shunpo to appear right in front of Haku again, throwing a slash that Haku should be able to block "However, don't let me decide your actions, it's important to be able to think for yourself during a battle."

Haku, seeing the actions of Ravana's actions come quick, knew he had to think fast. Haku jumped back, into a flip and landed about ten feet back with his hand out like a closed peace sign and his other hand in a closed peace sign, more close to his face. "Hado number thirty one: Shakkaho!" Haku said opening his hand from the closed peace sign to an open palm. A red ball of energy came from the Kido just said by Haku, and blasted at Ravana. "Ok nows my chance..." He said in his mind. He did a simple flash step to Ravana, and appeared in the dust while in mid slice. This meant that Haku was already slicing, before he had appeared to Ravana.

Ravana, however, used Shunpo to appear a few meters to the side of both attacks and watched as Haku's own kido closed in on him. "Ahh, poor move there Haku, you left yourself wide open to that counter, and now your own kido is attacking you." With that, Ravana raised his left hand, opening his palm "Now, this is how to use Kido; Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south! Hado number 31, Shakkahō" Ravana's Kido blast was much more powerful that Haku's; not only because he used the incantation, but because as a captain he was more well versed with Kido. "Remember Haku, always use the incantation when you can."

Haku's flashstep let him dodge his own attack. "Alright time for shikai..." Haku said in his mind then letting out a couple of words. "Hail, Shirohi." He said as he moved his hand down his cold, white blade, as the blade transformed to his shikai. The blade suddenly grew broad, and more cold, with frost actually on it. The blade was an ice shard. But not fragile like the average ice shard. The blade didn't grow in length, but in width. Haku jumped from his spot, and flipped backwards into a speedy slice to Ravana, following by another slice to the waste of Ravana, just incase the first slice fails. Haku then moved back to avoid any counters that may happen. "Damn... I messed up with that kido!"

Ravana easily blocked both attacks, but he had to take the fight more seriously to "Ah, yes, so that's your Shikai, quite impressive, but let's see what kind of control you have with it." With that, Ravana used shunpo to appear to Haku's right, quickly slashing at him. However, Ravana anticipated for his attack to be blocked, so he quickly made a fist with his left hand and stuck out his index and middle finger "Hado number 4, Byakurai." Shooting a thin blast of lightning at Haku as well as his physical attack. Since his Lieutenant had stepped up his game, Ravana decided that he should do the same.

Haku noticed right away that there was something big when Ravana had appeared to Haku's right. Without blocking nor attacking, he simply flash stepped a few feet ahead and turned around. As he turned around he swung his blade with quite some force, letting out a snake of ice that would possibly attempt to pierce Ravana's back. Haku then flash stepped where Ravana would have been facing when he appeared at Haku's right before and knew that if Ravana noticed the snake coming that he would HAVE to turn around and block it, so Haku made a slice to Ravana's front. So if his speedy snake didn't hit, the slice would. The slice was aimed at Ravana's chest.

Ravana grinned as he noticed Haku's tactics, and held his Zanpaktou up horizontal to the ground "Heh, well then, I guess I should do you the honors of revealing my Shikai; With the Lord as my shepherd and this blade as my shield, I shall strike down evil in the name of justice, Dominus Pascit Me!" As he said this, Ravana became surrounded by an aura of blue ethereal flames as he released his Shikai. The sheer power of Ravana releasing his Shikai in comparison to Haku's attack was much greater, and it, along with the flames, halted both of his attacks. Suddenly, the flames disappeared and Ravana was left there holding his Zanpaktou in it's Shikai. Ravana's Shikai took the form of an elegant two-handed sword with a cross as the hilt and guard. "Now then, test your blades strength against this" he said, raising his Shikai.
